I love getting things like this in the mail!
This is my 1st proof of my print novel Night’s Knights.
There are some adjustments I will be making, but for the most part I am thrilled beyond all common uses of the word.
All the fonts and pictures I used came out beautifully.
I really like the size and weight of the finished product and although I wanted to keep the price under ten dollars, the fact that it will be $13.00 does not bother me after seeing it. It is quality paperback which major booksellers charge $15-$20 for and I am confident the finished product will be something vampire fans across the globe will have a hard time passing by.
One bit of news I have is, although the cover was locked in, I suddenly met someone who has the most beautiful picture that I would like to use for the cover. We are in talks about the details, but when I know for sure, I will give you links to her portfolio. Excellent stuff.
I am so excited to have met her and to have seen her artwork just in time.

Here’s the desk.  Lovely, eh? Well, let me explain, such as it is. 

As you can see, I use a laptop on a wireless network.  I use the shared family desktop for printing and memory-intensive projects (not pictured). Because of that, I have several memory cards as well as external storage devices for my audio files.  I use a wireless mouse and so many USB devices that I have a hub.  My Zune is also connected. My microphone and pop filter are off to the right of the picture. 

Paperwork, bills, and coupons make up the right corner, with a picture of a heart by my daughter on top.  My sons drew what I believe is meant to be a dinosaur and that’s stuck to the wall on the left out of picture.  There is a pen container complete with pens and, for no good reason, sidewalk chalk.  My children have also contributed a tinker toy, a Hungry Hippo marble, and a fine haze of Moon Sand that doesn’t come across in the picture.

The desk was built by my father-in-law back when kneeling chairs were the fashion, so I’ve placed a metal blotter over the desk opening that was meant to hold a keyboard.  This brought it to the right height and allowed me to have my mouse pad nearby.

As for Night’s Knights news, there isn’t much. I am still preparing for the print novel coming out in October. I’ve been asked by a readers group on Second Life to read the book at their events. I have not given them a definite yes yet, but when I do, I will be reading the new revised print novel format of NK. I am still working on how I can record this for your listening pleasure. These recordings will probably be raw, straight reads.

I am on a short hiatus from dashPunk.com. My articles there will start up again on August 2nd.
